The Election Commission decided in favor of the government nominee, retired Justice Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, on its second day of deliberations. A note of dissent on the order was written by retired Punjab Justice Riaz Kiyani, a member of the decision-making body, who disagreed with it. The newly appointed caretaker prime minister stated that free and fair elections would be his top priority and that the scheduled dates for the elections would be followed.
Born in Jafferabad in September 1929, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso went on to earn a degree from Sindh University. He was thought to be a competent lawyer who knew a lot about different areas of law.
In 1977, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso joined the Balochistan High Court (BHC) as a judge. From 1990 to 1991, he was chief justice of the BHC.
