The parliamentary committee of the Punjab Assembly agreed on the senior journalist's name on the third day of consultative sessions.
PML-N leader Senator Mushahidullah Khan confirmed that the decision has been made that Mr. Sethi will be picked up from the list of four nominees for the slot.
The PML-N had suggested the names of Justice Amer Raza (retired) and former bureaucrat Khawaja Zaheer Ahmed while the opposition wanted to see either Justice Zahid Husain (retired) or senior journalist Najam Sethi for the post.
